We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we're all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?
In this position...
Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly motivated Engine Calibration Supervisor to lead the engineering team responsible for the 7.3L V8 engine (the "Godzilla" powerplant). This role is critical to the success of our most profitable segments: the Ford Super Duty and our diverse Commercial Truck lineup.
What you'll do...
As the Calibration Supervisor, you will lead a team of engineers to develop, validate, and deliver calibrations for chassis-certified and dyno-certified applications. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of tailpipe emissions, evaporative emissions, drivability, and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD). Your primary focus will be ensuring all programs meet stringent regulatory requirements and Ford's internal quality standards while optimizing for efficiency, cost, and on-time delivery.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of calibration engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and accountability.
Program Delivery: Oversee the development and release of calibrations for all 7.3L Gas Super Duty and Commercial Truck programs. Ensure all GPDS (Global Product Development System) milestones are met with high-quality deliverables.
Technical Oversight: Provide expert guidance across several technical domains:
Emissions (Chassis & Dyno): Ensure compliance with EPA/CARB tailpipe emissions standards for both light-duty (chassis) and heavy-duty (engine dyno) certification cycles.
Evaporative Emissions: Lead the development of robust evap calibrations to meet all regulatory leak detection and purge requirements.
Drivability: Direct the refinement of engine calibration to ensure "Best-in-Class" towing, hauling, and daily driving characteristics.
OBD (On-Board Diagnostics): Oversee the development and monitoring of diagnostic strategies to ensure 100% regulatory compliance and minimize false detections.
Efficiency & Cost Optimization: Drive process efficiencies within the calibration workflow (e.g., using CAE, HIL, and SIL) to reduce physical prototype testing costs and shorten development cycles.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all calibrations are robust to environmental extremes and fuel variations. Monitor warranty/connected vehicle data and implement lessons learned into new programs to improve long-term vehicle quality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact for the 7.3L calibration team when interfacing with Engine Hardware, Controls, Software, Vehicle Integration, and Regulatory agencies.
Required Skills
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 7+ years of experience in engine calibration, controls, or powertrain development.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of internal combustion engine fundamentals.
Proven experience with calibration attribute/deliverables: emissions, drivability, OBD.
Leadership: Prior experience in a formal or informal leadership role (Team Lead, Project Lead, or Supervisor). This position is open to both GSRs and current LL6s.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present technical program status to executive leadership.
You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
