This posting is for a Secondary English Teacher position, placed in courses for students in grades 9-12 for the 26-27 school year. Scheduled courses include upper-level English including Advanced Placement courses. A successful candidate will be expected to design and implement at least 1 high-quality elective course for High School students. Candidates who are not currently trained in Advanced Placement courses will be expected to attend this multi-day training during summer months.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in English or similar program leading to Teaching Certificate
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements: BA, BX, or equivalent
- Advanced Placement training preferred
- Highly successful teaching experience or exceptional reviews with evidence of success as a student teacher

- Design and implement cohesive courses, units, and lessons, monitoring student learning and adjusting as needed to ensure all students are challenged and learning
- Deliver engaging lessons, adjusting teaching strategies as needed for different classes, groups and students

- Collaborate with colleagues across the district, working as an empathetic, student-centered decision-maker
- Reflect honestly and thoughtfully on learning, planning, and effectiveness of approaches

Duties:
- Implement adopted curricula to maximize student growth, proficiency, and success.
- Design, deliver, and adjust implementation for at least 1 High School English elective that provides an exceptional learning experience for a variety of learners.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities throughout the school year.
- Support and promote the district and school vision, mission, and goals for high quality teaching and learning.
- Model professionalism in fulfilling all staff required duties and school expectations.
- Promote and lead student opportunities in extra-curricular activities.
