Senior Systems Engineer II
Job Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer II applies systems engineering principles to the development, integration, and lifecycle management of complex defense systems. This role serves as a technical leader within cross-functional teams, providing architectural guidance, driving requirements definition and traceability, and ensuring system designs meet customer, regulatory, and program objectives.
This position is expected to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the development, decomposition, and management of system and subsystem requirements, ensuring full traceability throughout the system lifecycle

Serve as the primary requirements owner, including authoring, maintaining, validating, and managing changes in accordance with established processes

Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), verification plans, and technical reports

Lead system integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) activities, including test planning, execution oversight, and issue resolution

Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks; proactively recommend mitigation strategies

Support proposal development, technical reviews, design reviews, and customer briefings

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to peers

Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, tools, and best practices

Ensure compliance with applicable standards, policies, and regulatory requirements throughout the system lifecycle
Education and Experience (Required)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline

Minimum of 6 years of experience in systems engineering or a closely related engineering role

Proven experience developing, managing, and maintaining system requirements

Demonstrated leadership in process development, standardization, or continuous improvement initiatives

Experience leading technical efforts across multiple engineering disciplines

Strong background in system architecture, integration, and verification activities

Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools

U.S. Citizenship required
Education and Experience (Preferred)

Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field

Experience with engineering and integration of ground vehicle systems and subsystems

Experience with the V-Model development process

Experience working in regulated or mission-critical environments (e.g., defense, aerospace, automotive)
