Buoys By The Bay LLC is seeking four (4) Cooks to work with them at 30 South State Street, St. Ignace, MI 49781. The position will be full-time and seasonal during the dates of April 1, 2026 – October 31, 2026.
The role of the Cook is to ensure that the kitchen is ready for production, fully stocked and prepares all food. The cook must ensure all meals are made consistently to our high standards. Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgement. Other duties may include monitoring product qualities and food freshness to ensure minimal waste. Ensure that food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters. Ensure all cookware, dishware, and restaurant wash ware is cleaned and sanitized. Must work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Must be honest and dependable, work well with others, have good time management skills. Must be able to follow directions well. Must be organized and detail-oriented, independent worker and a problem solver. Must have commercial kitchen experience, fine dining, baking experience and customer service. This role uses ovens, grills, knives and mixers among other restaurant equipment. Employee could be exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, garbage disposals and cleaning chemicals. Employee must lift and move up to 50 pounds. Must have at least three months’ experience. Employee must also follow any other kitchen related task assigned by the back of house supervisor.
Employees will work Mon-Sun an average of 40 hours/wk. Must be able to work any 8-hour shift within the hours of 11:00 am to 11:00 pm any day of the week, days off rotate, shifts vary. This job requires continuous movement, regularly bending, lifting, pushing, must be flexible, be able to communicate in English and be a team player, weekends and holidays are required. No minimum education is required.
On-the-job training is provided. Buoys By The Bay LLC will provide workers with all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job at no charge. Transportation is not provided.
The wage is $15.96 per hour. Overtime is available at a rate of $23.94 per hour. All deductions will be made from paychecks that are required by law. No other deductions will be made unless voluntarily agreed upon. Wages will be paid bi-weekly on Friday, and the employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due.

The employer will reimburse the H-2B worker in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker.
If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.
In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, the employer will provide earned sick time to employees. Employees will earn 1 hour of paid sick time per 30 hours worked, starting from their job start date, and may use it after 120 days. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business.
Housing located at 412 North State Street, St. Ignace, MI 49781 is available for rent from the employer by the H-2B worker at a cost of $150 per week per worker. This is optional and is not a condition of employment. If the worker agrees to rent the housing, the rent will be deducted from the employee pay if agreed upon. Alternately, the employer will assist the worker to find suitable housing within walking distance of the worksite.
