Requirements: 3 months of verifiable cooking and/or baking experience required in a restaurant, market or similar establishment. Applicants must furnish job references from previous employers within the last 5 years establishing acceptable prior experience.
50-pound lifting requirement. Some tasks will require two or more workers to jointly lift 100 pounds, however, the employer will use 50 pounds as the general lifting requirement.
Full season commitment: job offered requires worker be available for work every day that work is available for full employment period. Worker agrees to be available for and perform the assigned work whenever work is available through full employment period.
Worker must be able to perform all duties within job description in safe manner adhering to all established safety guidelines, practices, and procedures. Worker must possess requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat bakery process throughout workday. Worker must work at sustained pace and make good faith efforts to work efficiently as reasonable under working conditions. Work may be performed during moderate rain and in high humidity and in temperatures as low as 15 degrees F and up to 105 degrees F. Employer provides instructions and general supervision. Worker must conform to specific instructions given for each day’s work. All work-related injuries must be immediately reported to employer.
Worker must wear all required and assigned personal protective equipment at all required times. Worker must wear proper clothing and footwear for conditions and all footwear must be closed toe.
Employer conducts and worker must attend orientation on workplace rules, policies and safety information. Worker must follow work rules. Other duties assigned under this order will be consistent with the following Standard Occupational Classification Code under the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment Statistics: 51-3011: Bakers.
Terms & Conditions of Employment: $18.79 hour, at least 40 hours/week, 7 hours Monday-Friday, 5 hours Saturday. The anticipated hourly work schedule will be from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Contract hours represent anticipated work schedule. Prevailing practice results in adjusting hours and work schedule to meet labor needs due to contracted project needs and weather. When hours per day exceed job order hours, Employer offers, but not requires worker additional hours. Overtime: $28.19. (overtime hours vary).
Availability of On-the-Job Training: Employer will provide on-the-job training.
Transportation: If worker completes 50 percent of work contract period, employer will reimburse the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to place worker originally departed to work, except where worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. Amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to most economical and reasonable common carrier for distances involved. Daily meals will be provided at least $16.28/day during travel to $68.00/day maximum with receipts. Employer will not reimburse, pay for or provide inbound transportation and subsistence to worker who resides within reasonably commutable distance or who does not provide identity and employment eligibility documentation required to complete Form I-9, who has knowledge at recruitment place that worker cannot perform job order duties, who abandons employment, or who is discharged for lawful job-related reasons. Worker may select means of transportation to place of employment, however, reimbursement is limited to lesser of per worker cost of Employer provided transportation or most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation cost. Employer will advance inbound transportation amount no later than first workweek. Employer will offer transportation to workers for a fee of $15.00 per employee per week. This transportation option will include daily transport to and from worksites and a trip once a week for groceries and errands. If employer transportation is utilized, employer will deduct $15 per employee per week All employer provided vehicles are properly inspected and insured. All drivers are properly licensed.
Three-fourths Guarantee: Employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of total employment period.
Tools, Equipment, & Supplies: Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform job.
Miscellaneous: Employer will use single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Pay period is Monday through Sunday, paid the following Friday. Workers will be paid bi-weekly by check and/or direct deposit. Employer will make all deductions from worker’s paycheck required by law. Employer offers housing for a fee of $50.00 per employee per week. Workers are able to accept Employer housing at the rate listed or find their own housing if preferred. If employer housing is utilized, employer deducts $50 a week per person for rent. Employer will reimburse an H-2B worker in first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees), incurred by the H-2B worker.
In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, employers are required to provide earned sick time to their employees. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business.
