Berns Landscaping Services Inc. is seeking to fill fifteen (15) temporary, full-time seasonal Landscaping Laborerpositions for April 1, 2026 to November 15, 2026. Worksite: 23500 Blackstone Ave, Warren MI 48089 and sites within Macomb, Wayne, and Oakland counties in MI.
Job Duties: Landscape and lawn maintenance, including tree planting, sod laying, mowing, mulching, trimming, planting shrubs and flowers, weeding, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation. Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers. Trimming small trees, hedges, and shrubs. Spring and Fall clean-up. Landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Assists with installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units, such as retaining walls. Operate a blower correctly and safely around houses, pedestrians, and vehicles. Perform handwork as necessary using a shovel, rake, broom, and/or clippers. Assist with loading trucks and trailers with tools and materials each day; Ensure debris and trash is picked up after the work is done. May drive crew vehicle. No driver’s license is required as a condition of employment for the position. If the prospective worker already possesses a standard, noncommercial driver’s license they may be asked to drive a vehicle to job sites, as needed.
Requirements: No education or experience required.
Special Requirements: Must lift/carry 50 lbs., when necessary. Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. Must be able to perform physical labor outdoors for up to 8 hours per day in all weather conditions, including cold, snow, heat, and rain. Must be 18 or older. Post-hire post-accident drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers at no cost to workers.
Terms and conditions of employment: $19.93 - $26.00/hour, 40 hours/week, Overtime available at $29.90 - $39.00 per hour. Mon-Fri, 7:30AM-5:30PM. Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Employees will be paid weekly on Friday. At employer’s discretion, raises and/or bonuses may be offered based on individual factors including work performance, skill, and tenure. Workers will be provided with daily transportation to and from the worksite in compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations. On the job training available. Workers will be provided, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned. Workers will begin each day at the worksite address. They will then be transported, free of charge, to properties located throughout the area of intended employment to provide services. They will then be transported back to the worksite address at the end of each work day.
ER (employer) will make all deductions from EE’s (employee) paycheck required by law & no others without consent. If needed, ER will assist in arranging opt’l EE-paid lodging for foreign & non-local U.S. EEs. ER may deduct FMV cost of rent & utils based on # of occupants, up to $120/wk, for EEs who voluntarily elect ER housing. Voluntary advances, if any at ER discretion, may be repaid via pre-auth payroll deduction or cash. ER provides 1st uniform set free; add’l uniforms opt’l & may be deducted. A vehicle may be provided, but not guaranteed, for relocating EE only. Opt’l shared company vehicle offered for personal use and commuting at cost $25/pay period deducted if EE elects. Any traffic/toll fees during personal use will be deducted from payroll. ER offers opt’l health insurance; voluntary after 60 days. ER pays $50/mth if EE opts in; premiums may be deducted. ER adds $50/yr of service, up to $500/mth. EEs accrue 1 hr pd sick leave per 30 hrs wrkd, max 72 hrs/yr.
The employer will reimburse an H-2B worker in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker. From the place from which the worker has come to work, whether in the US or abroad, to the place of employment, if the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will provide advance payment for transportation and subsistence (including meals and to the extent necessary, lodging) from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Three-fourths guarantee: The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. Tools, equipment and supplies: The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, & equipment required to perform the job.
