Product Designer (Product Technician)

Trillium Staffing is now seeking a Product Technician in Saginaw!
As a Product Technician, you will play a pivotal role in developing and supporting new products, design updates, and novel applications for water screening equipment. Working closely with the Product Engineering Team and Skunk Works, this role focuses on designing, testing, and implementing innovative solutions in the field that meet customer needs while aligning with the organization’s commitment to simplicity and reliability.
This position requires creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Pay Rate: $34.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and support new product designs, updates, and applications for water screening equipment

Collaborate with Product Engineering and Skunk Works teams on design, testing, and field implementation

Design and fabricate components to bring concepts to life

Support product testing and troubleshooting in real-world customer environments

Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and reliability standards
Qualifications:
Education:
-
High School Diploma required
-
B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Environmental, or MET) preferred
Experience:
-
Required: 4+ years working with mechanical and electrical controls and process monitoring equipment
-
Required: 2+ years fabricating components and translating concepts into functional designs
-
Preferred: Experience with wastewater treatment processes, including equipment startup, repair, or operations
Skills:
-
Ability to read mechanical blueprints and resolve complex mechanical engineering challenges
-
Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
-
Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management skills
-
Effective written and verbal communication skills for interaction with customers, engineers, and cross-functional teams
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency with tools including drill press, cut-off saws, hand tools, welders, and related equipment
Preferred:
-
Experience troubleshooting electrical controls
-
Familiarity with wastewater industry organizations (e.g., WWEMA, MWEA)

Small business or startup experience
Other Requirements:

Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to customer sites (approximately two weeks per month)

Ability to drive a fork truck and obtain required licensing

Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work in confined spaces, and navigate uneven terrain

Comfort working in varied climates and wastewater treatment plant environments
