Position Summary
Kellogg Community College (KCC) is looking to hire an Adjunct Instructor to teach transfer degree courses in subjects such as:
- Anthropology (IMMEDIATE NEED)
- History
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Philosophy
- Political Science
- Service-Learning
The role involves delivering face-to-face instruction on the main campus or at our Centers, with classes scheduled during the day from 8 AM to 4 PM and in the evenings from 5:30 PM to 10 PM. Additional opportunities may include hybrid or online teaching formats. This part-time adjunct position reports to the Chair of Social Science and Integrative Learning and is responsible for providing instruction and ensuring course outcomes are met in the corresponding discipline.
Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources, and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo and Lansing, 60 minutes to Grand Rapids and within 3 hours of Detroit, Chicago, and Indianapolis.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area, presentation venues, and could be at one of KCC's regional sites outside of the Battle Creek area. Travel by car may be required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and, may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Earned Master's Degree from the discipline you will teach or a Master's Degree with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline you will teach from an accredited institution at the time of application; attach unofficial transcripts showing coursework completed and degree conferred.
• Teaching Experience.
• Must be a resident of Michigan or Indiana.
Preferred but not Required
• Evidence of community college teaching experience.
Proposed Salary
Based on current Board-approved rate.

Job Duties
Essential Function: INSTRUCTION
Description:
• Provide face-to-face, hybrid or online instruction in your qualified discipline (Opportunities in Anthropology, History, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Political Science and Service-Learning).
• Teach college-level First Year Seminar courses in accordance with College policies and procedures.
• Teach to departmental syllabus and course outcomes using departmental textbooks and other materials.
• Teaching includes explaining concepts to students, hands-on teaching demonstrations of various processes, assisting students with questions, and grading tests.
• Prepare assignments, tests, and activities as needed per course learning objectives.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse populations.
• Work cooperatively with colleagues.
• The instructor will also be responsible for some administrative duties such as maintaining equipment, advising students, preparing materials, and orienting new students to the appropriate subject course content.
• Attending Department and College meetings as required.
