General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate technical work installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and designing electrical systems and equipment, providing guidance to team members on electrical issues, recommending future projects and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Maintenance.
Essential Functions
(Per previous instructions: include Electrician I functions so the posting stands alone)
• Installs, maintains, repairs and tests electrical systems and equipment for the County. Diagnoses electrical issues and formulates repair and placement plans.
• Provides recommendations for the repairs and replacements of electrical systems and future projects.
• Instructs assigned staff on electrical issues and projects.
• Works with contractors and vendors; orders materials as needed.
• Manages the Department staff and operations in the absence of the Maintenance Director.
Minimum Qualifications
(Includes Electrician I minimum qualifications for full clarity)
Education: Associates/Technical degree.
Experience: Extensive (six (6) plus years) experience repairing, replacing, and testing electrical systems and equipment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
• State of Michigan Master Electrician License upon hire.
• State of Michigan electrical contractors license upon hire.
• Obtain Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act O and M training within six (6) months of hire.
• Obtain National Fire Protection Association Arch Flash Electrical Safety training within six (6) months of hire.
• Valid driver’s license in the State of Michigan.
