Position: Substitute Teacher Number of Positions Needed: 3-4 Location: Westland, MI 48186 Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM Estimated Length of Assignment: 832 hours Pay: $24.00 per hour
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide engaging and effective instructional coverage during the absence of the classroom teacher.
- Ensure teaching practices demonstrate necessary competencies, effective classroom management, and positive personal qualities.
- Maintain an environment conducive to learning, ensuring all students have equal access to instructional opportunities.
- Develop and execute dynamic daily lesson plans that address the educational needs and interests of students.
- Foster a classroom atmosphere that maximizes learning time and supports student engagement.
- Utilize a variety of teaching techniques and instructional resources to implement the approved curriculum.
- Support students’ intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth.
- Exhibit fair, firm, and consistent behavior management to promote self-discipline among students.
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Follow school policies and administrative procedures to align with school system goals and objectives.
- Supervise students in various school settings.
- Maintain accurate records as required.
- Monitor the appropriate use and care of classroom materials, equipment, and facilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children facing behavioral and academic challenges.
- Experience in special education is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of High School Level Math, English Language Arts, and/or Social Studies.
