Inventory SpecialistJob Summary
Manage and maintain accurate inventory records while ensuring optimal stock levels and supporting efficient warehouse operations. This role involves tracking inventory movement, conducting audits, implementing processes to minimize discrepancies, and maximizing operational efficiency through data analysis and process improvements.Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Control
Monitor daily inventory levels and track product movement throughout the facility
Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing materials using inventory management systems
Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories to ensure accuracy between physical stock and system records
Identify and investigate inventory discrepancies, working with teams to resolve issues promptly
Data Analysis & Reporting
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports for management review
Analyze inventory trends, turnover rates, and identify slow-moving or obsolete stock
Maintain accurate documentation of all inventory transactions and adjustments
Prepare variance reports and recommend corrective actions for inventory losses or gains
Process Improvement & Optimization
Collaborate with site teams to optimize inventory processes and procedures
Recommend improvements to storage methods, layout efficiency, and inventory tracking systems
Support implementation of new inventory management technologies or software systems
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards for inventory control
Coordination & Communication
Work closely with site teams to forecast inventory needs and prevent stockouts
Communicate inventory status and concerns to management and relevant departments
Assist with vendor coordination regarding deliveries, returns, and quality issues
Support cross-training initiatives and provide backup coverage for related functionsRequired Qualifications:
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
2-3 years' experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, or supply chain roles
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions, and data analysis
Experience with barcode scanning systems and inventory tracking technologies
High attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
Basic computer skills for inventory management systems navigation
Core Competencies
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Strong problem-solving abilities with capacity to work independently
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Analytical thinking for trend identification and process improvement
Physical Requirements
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work in warehouse environments for extended periods
Capability to perform cycle counts requiring standing, walking, and reachingPreferred Qualifications
Associate degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
Experience with specific inventory management software (SAP, Oracle WMS, Manhattan Associates)
Certification in inventory management or supply chain (APICS, SCM, etc.)
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or retail inventory environments
Knowledge of lean inventory principles and Six Sigma methodologies
Forklift operation certification
Experience with RFID technology and advanced tracking systems
Previous supervisory or training experience
Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for inventory management
Experience with vendor management and purchase order processesWorking Conditions
This position operates in warehouse and office environments with exposure to varying temperatures, inventory systems, and material handling equipment. May require occasional overtime during inventory cycles or peak operational periods. Position involves both computer-based work and physical inventory activities throughout the facility.
