1. Operations: Typical duties: uses plans, diagrams, blueprints, and work requests to determine project design, and works with requester to insure needs are met; fabricates/modifies parts, equipment, and any item needed in shop operations to satisfy customer needs; determines metals needed, welding methods, tig, mig, carbon arcing, stick, ect. and all particulars of requested jobs; works with carbon, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, cast steel, & various alloys; designs, lays-out, and cuts special parts or designs jigs to develop items from ferrous and non-ferrous metals; figures angle, length, diameter, and weight of metals for jobs; heats, tempers, straightens, and shapes metals; prepares and cleans surfaces and special parts for welding and machining; positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. Also operates brake, shear, roller, & punch.2. Miscellaneous: Typical duties: cleans, and lubricates shop equipment; cleans work area; completes and maintains records and reports of materials, time and costs involved in completing projects; inventories and maintains supplies; may instruct and/or supervise other in the use of welding and machining equipment; may be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests; operates forklift and crane; any duties to help insure facility operates smoothly.Some Field Service repair work may be required.
