The Michigan Center for Translational Pathology (MCTP) is seeking a hybrid Research Administrator Senior to serve as the primary financial contact for the Michigan Prostate SPORE and to provide support for other research administration duties for the center. This multifaceted role requires management expertise to handle the various timelines, roles, and responsibilities associated with the grant. Additionally, it includes organizing and managing related activities directly with grant sponsors, such as reporting requirements and project coordination. This role will coordinate and manage budgets for financials specializing in both pre- and post-award activities. The preferred candidate will have experience within academic research settings and with UM policies and regulations to be able to interface with other institutions, departments, and offices within the university.
The MCTP is a center under the umbrella of the Department of Pathology. The successful candidate for this position will have advanced knowledge of principles, practices and procedures used in research administration and will use this knowledge to continue to build on our high level of customer service. The ability to contribute independently, take strategic initiative and communicate clearly are key to success in this role.
Pre-Award Activity for the Michigan Prostate SPORE and other submissions assigned:
- Oversee the grant submission process, from initial start to final submission, including development of timelines for various components of proposals.
- Assist with entry of the grant information in eResearch Proposal Management, ASSIST, and associated platforms.
- Participate in review/editing/formatting of administrative shell documents.
- Development of multi-year budgets associated with proposals and renewals.
- Interpret regulations and guidelines of multiple programs funding with complex and broad guidelines for spending.
- Ensure compliance with sponsor terms, University policies/procedures and federal regulations.
Post-Award Activity for the Michigan Prostate SPORE and other projects assigned:
- Request sub-PG?s, complete budget allocations, and initiate DBE?s for faculty, staff and students.
- Develop and maintain subcontracts under award to include the financial oversight, review of invoices and timely billing.
- Review and reconcile awards across cost share and sponsored research funds using MReports, Business Objects and other tools; process journal entries as needed. Prepare monthly reports with revenues, encumbrances, and projected balances. Report long-term financial viability of the SPORE and other projects given multiple complex grants and contracts from various sources with differing project end dates.
