The Data Acquisition Group - Durability Product Development Technician is responsible for the fabrication of transducers to measure strain, displacement, rotation, application of strain gages and wiring to engine, driveline, chassis, and body components/systems. The position requires documentation of results and vehicle instrumentation for data acquisitions - including installation of wheel force transducers, other force transducers, accelerometers, displacement transducers, and on vehicles for road load data acquisition. In addition, the Mechanic/Technician will troubleshoot instrumented vehicles / transducers. Responsibilities for fixture of building, welding, machining, and disassembly of prototype vehicle chassis/driveline components. Day trips to Chelsea Proving Grounds are required to support data acquisitions.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
A minimum of 3 years of experience as mechanic or technician including a minimum of 1 year of experience with fabrication skills such as welding & machining
Familiarity with suspension/driveline systems and components.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
ASE certification
A minimum of 1 year of experience with instrumentation and operation of various test equipment.
Familiar with a variety of tools (hand, bench and machine).
Experience with strain gaging.
Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Advanced mechanical and electrical experience/knowledge.
Flexibility to attend day trips to Chelsea Proving Grounds to support data acquisitions.
