Master Technician

Pep Boys is seeking an experienced Master Automotive Technician with advanced diagnostic and leadership capabilities. As a Master Tech, you’ll use your expertise to diagnose and repair complex drivability, electrical, air conditioning, suspension, braking, and engine performance systems. You’ll be a leader in the shop—mentoring fellow technicians, supporting store management, and ensuring exceptional customer care.

What You’ll Do
- Diagnose and repair brake and hydraulic systems, exhaust, electrical, drivability, suspension, alignment, A/C, and computer systems
- Perform all duties of Technician A, Technician B, Mechanic, and General Service Technician
- Communicate complex technical diagnoses and repair recommendations clearly to customers and non-technical team members
- Mentor fellow technicians and help drive overall shop performance
- Continuously learn and apply new technical information and procedures through formal training
- Keep store management informed of mechanical repair issues
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety/environmental regulations
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- 5+ years of advanced automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair experience
- 8+ ASE certifications preferred (A1–A8)
- Section 609 certification required
- State Inspection License (if applicable)
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
- High level of motivation, energy, and professionalism
- Ability to successfully complete a background check
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., extended standing and walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and reaching. Must be able to communicate effectively, use computers and diagnostic tools, and safely operate motor vehicles and equipment. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
