One position will be located in the outpatient General Mental Health Clinic and will be a member of an interdisciplinary BHIP (Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program) team. Duties for this position include assessment and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques to provide quality care; performing evaluations; providing a full range of therapeutic interventions, including individual and group counseling; consulting with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues; and potentially being involved in program evaluation. The other staff psychologist position is for a float psychologist. The float psychologist may work across a variety of outpatient settings as needed by the Mental Health service line. They may help cover extended leave or address a staffing gap while recruitment is occurring, with the duration of coverage for a specific clinic or team being variable. The float psychologist may also assist with the supervision of psychology interns and with program evaluation as needed. Psychologists diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Among the modalities provided are individual, family, and group psychotherapies, and other interventions such as biofeedback, psychological hypnosis, and environmental interventions. They consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Staff psychologists may be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities.Duties included but are not limited to: Administers a wide variety of group and individual psychological tests. Uses a variety of intelligence and personality assessment measures Provides professional consultation pertaining to human behavior, determining the reasons for that behavior and predicting and or modifying the behavior. Performs psychological assessment and evaluation and treatment of patients with problems of personality, emotional adjustment or mental illness. Oversees other professionals or works as a key team member providing comprehensive psychological and medical care for a group of individuals. Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed. The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. OR Have a doctoral degree in any area of psychology and, in addition, successfully complete a respecialization program (including documentation of an approved internship completed as part of the respecialization program) meeting both of the following conditions: The re-specialization program must be completed in an APA or a CPA accredited doctoral program; and, the specialty in which the applicant is retrained must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.
