Job Summary
A Wire Room Operator EDMs profiles into dies using wire machines and programs provided to blueprint specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Selects die from stock or previously laid out blank on which the pattern is to be wired.
- Checks the die thickness, diameter, pinholes, keyways, pads, etc., according to blueprint specifications.
- Lays out the die and completes the inspection sheet.
- Checks wire size and machine squareness; indicates die, clamps die, and checks that the top of the die is flat.
- Verifies the position of the die and the mirroring is correct.
- Runs dry-run program, reloads program, and cuts die.
- When finished, inspects slug for non-conforming marks; pins out die to check for abnormalities.
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Computer skills.
- Communication skills.
Job Preferences:
- Manufacturing experience.
- Ability to recognize problems with the operation of machines and any nonconformities in a die.
- Ability to complete basic math functions.
- Ability to use and interpret micrometers, calipers, pins, squaring blocks, and other tools of measurement.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to be creative, innovative, detail-oriented, and work independently.
