Our Senior Director of Benefits serves as a strategic leader responsible for the design, implementation, and management of Kelly's global benefits programs. Reporting into the CHRO, this HR leadership role blends strategic vision with operational excellence - balancing financial stewardship and employee engagement to deliver competitive, high-impact benefits offerings that attract, retain, and inspire our workforce.
Strategic Benefits Planning & Design
Develop and execute benefit strategies that align with business goals and workforce priorities
Collaborate with senior leadership to drive data-informed decisions on program design, cost management, and enhancements
Leverage benefits analytics and market insights to drive strategic recommendations and align leadership programs with our total rewards framework
Hold various seats serving on as / on:
Secretary of Board-appointed Benefit Plans Committee
Kelly's HIPAA Privacy Official
Various external advisory boards and industry groups
Program Administration & Continuous Improvement
Drive continuous improvement in administration processes, leveraging technology and best practices
Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, IT) to ensure coordination and alignment on benefits projects and initiatives
Compliance & Plan Governance
Conduct regular audits and compliance reviews of benefits programs to ensure adherence to legal and local / state regulatory requirements, including IRC, DoL, PPACA, COBRA, FMLA, and ERISA as well as fiduciary and non-qualified deferred compensation
Ensure all benefit offerings, including executive programs, comply with applicable laws and regulations
Maintain documentation for reporting and disclosure to support governance and transparency
Vendor & Financial Management
Negotiate with vendors and service providers to secure optimal contract terms and conditions
Monitor vendor performance, service levels, and cost efficiency to maximize service and quality
Lead RFP's, annual service meetings, renewal processes, leveraging vendor and fee benchmarking
Partner with Finance on cost projections and monitoring, annual accruals, wire and invoice approvals
Team Leadership & Development
Manage and develop a team of specialists, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth within the benefits team
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
12+ years of expertise in benefits strategy and design, including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, and executive benefits
Strong leadership and strategic planning skills to develop and implement comprehensive benefits strategies that align with organizational goals
Ability to advise senior leadership on benefits-related decisions, providing insights and recommendations that drive business value and employee satisfaction
Critical analytical skills to interpret complex benefits data and develop strategic recommendations for cost savings and program improvements
Strong problem-solving skills to address complex benefits issues and develop innovative solutions that meet organizational needs
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to effectively collaborate with senior leadership, Legal, Finance, and other cross-functional teams
Ability to manage and lead a team of benefits specialists, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure high performance and professional growth and development
Proficiency in HRIS platforms, such as Workday HCM, for managing benefits administration and analytics
Advanced knowledge of ERISA regulations and compliance, including COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA
CEBS certification, staffing industry background, and international benefits experience a plus
Role is based at Kelly HQ in Troy, Michigan
