Eaton's North American Sales division is currently seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join their team. What you'll do:
The NAS Senior Application Engineer is a consultative, technical sales professional responsible for supporting Electrical Consultants (power system designers) that serve the local commercial, institutional and government markets. A Senior Application Engineer must possess both strong technical and commercial skills and be experienced in electrical power distribution, power quality and control.
This position is responsible for working with electrical consultants and specifying engineers to assist in the layout and specification of medium voltage, and low voltage, power distribution systems. This position will also be responsible for providing technical product and application leadership for external clients, as well as technical mentoring for Eaton sales engineers.
In addition to the above prescibed primary functions, the Eaton Senior Application Engineer uses their unique technical and commercial skillset to extend their influence across Eaton's Power Distribution and Power Quality businesses, beyond sales districts/regions boundaries.
Essential Functions:
Call on electrical engineers at related consulting firms across the assigned sales territory to assist with technical design and position Eaton related products in a preferred position.
Provide support on major projects including submittals drawings and interfacing with the consultant and owner.
Work with institutional end users to gain acceptance and promote Eaton products.
Conduct product seminars and training on Eaton products and solutions at targeted consultant firms.
Provide mentoring and training to sales engineers and other employees within and outside of the NAS organization.
Proactively share application, product, market knowledge and opinions across Eaton's business.
Develop and deploy marketing support tools and training for consultants and design engineers.
Actively participate in and influence local, regional and/or national trade organizations that impact Eaton's business.
ROLE EXPECTATION:
1. The Senior Application Engineer is expected to consistently demonstrate the local criteria for a NAS Application Engineer.
Demonstrate a deep level of application knowledge across Eaton range of power distribution, power quality and control products.
Proactively apply application and product expertise to position Eaton in a preferential position in commercial construction specifications.
Maintain trusted advisor relationship with several, key consultants in the market
Demonstrate advanced commercial skills. Proficient is negotiating pre-sales and post-sales topics. Is comfortable interacting with end users, consultants, contractors and inspectors. Interacts effectively across all levels of clients organizations. (Electrical Designer ? Dept Mgr. / Owner)
Maintain a strong, positive working relationship across the District/Region. A Sr Application Engineer is a respected member of the local sales team and sales leadership.
Mentor sales engineers (formal and informal)
Participate in local trade organizations (IAEI, IEEE, etc..)
2. The Senior Application Engineer is expected to share their application, product and market knowledge and opinions proactively across our businesses.
Demonstrate a broad strategic understanding of the US Power Distribution market and our competitors.
Actively participate in Outlook/Sharepoint application discussions.
Participate in multiple division/PL led strategy sessions each year. Examples include: roadmapping sessions, design bursts, PL councils.
Be a "Linked AE" to a major, strategically important product line, to provide market input and to act as a communication focal point between the AE's and the PL's.
Proactively communicate opportunities and threats to product line and business leaders, and assist in the development of vision/strategy to respond to opportunities/threats.
Provide local, strategic leadership to sales leadership for annual operating plans.

3. The Senior Application Engineer is expected to provide their application and market knowledge to help develop and deploy marketing support tools and training for Consultants and Design Engineers
Create consultant-focused, educational marketing tools. This includes videos, Lunch 'n Learns, whitepapers, etc...
Lead, and/or participate in, the development and implementation of formal Consultant training sessions. (Local, Regional, National)
Actively participate in AE Steering Committee which will develop and maintain a strategic plan for supporting consultants/engineers in designing power distribution systems using Eaton's products.
Participate and/or lead consultant tools initiatives that have application beyond the local district: Example: CAG committee. PSG committee. Seismic. (Future electronic tools committee)
4. The Senior Application Engineer is expected is to participate in Local, Regional and/or National trade organizations that impact Eaton's business. Examples include:
Local and Regional IAEI organization
IEEE chapters
NEC code making panels
EUSERC
State or City standards organization (CEC, NYC Electric Board, etc...)
5. The Senior Application Engineer is expected to be a role model and mentor for others in our organization
In all communications, both within and beyond our organization, the Senior AE is expected to demonstrate professional and positive conduct as a representative of the NAS AE community.
Provide both formal and informal mentoring of others within our organization.
Skills:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
Minimum nine (9) years of electrical sales and/or electrical engineering experience
Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
A Professional Engineer (PE) License
Extensive electrical experience
Knowledgeable of Codes and Standards, Eaton Electrical products, services and competitors
The compensation range for this full-time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive. This position has a target total compensation range of $165,000.00 - $242,000.00.
Base salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
