TITLE: Maintenance Assistant
REPORTS TO: Building and Grounds Manager
STATUS: Full time/Non-Exempt with benefits
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays; 40 hours/week
WAGE: $16.00/ hour

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lakeshore Museum Center is a campus of museums consisting of nine buildings that comprise three distinct visitor sites. The sites are the Muskegon Museum of History & Science, the Muskegon Historic Sites, and the Muskegon Heritage Museum of Business and Industry.
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the cleaning, care, and upkeep of the sites of the Lakeshore Museum Center. Maintenance Assistant will also assist with special projects and routine work at all of the Museum’s sites.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma
- Moves materials up to 50lbs
- Valid Driver’s License and good driving record
- Proficient skills with shop equipment such as table saw, drill press, hand tools, scaffold and ladders
- Proficient interior and exterior painting skills
- Experience with operating and maintaining equipment such as lift, plow truck, snow blowers and lawn maintenance equipment.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS A PLUS:
- Past employment experience in grounds maintenance including using mowers, weed whackers, backpack blowers, spreaders and chemical sprayers, chainsaws, and snow blowers
- Experience in painting, repairing, and replacing exterior wood siding and trim
- Drywall and/or plaster repair experience
- Woodworking or carpentry skills
- Basic plumbing skills
- Experience with HVAC maintenance and/or repairs
- Experience using floor scrubbers and buffers; applying floor wax and sealers
WORK OVERVIEW:
- Custodial Work:
- Responsible for the daily cleaning at the Museum’s sites including bathroom cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
- General Maintenance Needs
- Assist with grounds maintenance at all sites to maintain well-kept sites.
- Assist with building maintenance and repair projects.
- Assist with exhibit builds, department projects, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
- Help with special events and event setups.
- Safety
- Respond to alarm calls at the all sites when requested.
- Complete assigned eSafety training courses and participate in additional training as necessary.
- Maintain necessary certifications and PPE
- Report any issues to supervisor immediately.
