SAPA Transmission is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Test Technician to join our Engineering team. This role involves testing transmission systems for US military ground tracked and wheeled vehicles, utilizing our new state-of-the-art powertrain dynamometer test cells. You will play a crucial role in evaluating various transmission and propulsion systems ensuring they meet our high standards for quality, functionality, reliability, and performance. All while working in a collaborative work environment with test engineers and technicians reporting to senior management.
Responsibilities:
- Execute & perform test procedures of transmission and powertrain systems within advanced propulsion dynamometer test cells.
 
- Set up and operate test equipment and instrumentation according to test plans and engineering specifications.
 
- Inspect transmissions and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
 
- Record, monitor, and analyze test data to evaluate transmission performance, reliability, and functionality.
 
- Maintain and utilize computer software programs for test data acquisition.
 
- Perform minor maintenance of test equipment, instrumentation, and control systems for test cell operation.
 
- Identify and resolve issues with test setups, equipment, or transmission systems during testing.
 
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
 
- Set up transmissions, engines, power electronic systems, stands and test instrumentation in the test cell.
 
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company and industry standards during testing procedures.
 
- Work closely with test engineers and other technicians to ensure accurate and efficient test execution.
 
- Other duties as assigned.
 
 Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a similar position.
 
- Experience with dynamometers testing transmissions is a plus.
 
- Basic knowledge of data acquisition systems - hardware/software (Dewesoft).
 
- Knowledge and experience of the AVL Puma system and/or other dynamometer systems.
 
- Basic knowledge of heat exchangers, cooling and fuel systems.
 
- Basic understanding of engines and transmissions operation.
 
- Proactive attitude towards work, teamwork and cooperation.
 
- Availability for traveling occasionally.
