Required
- Minimum 5 years of trade experience in general contracting (painting, drywall, carpentry, flooring; plumbing experience preferred).
- Prior experience leading or mentoring a small crew strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proven ability to balance hands-on work with leadership responsibilities.
- Must supply and maintain own basic tool set.
- Three professional references to demonstrate project completion history and work quality.
- Physical ability to perform construction tasks and lift up to 50 pounds
Preferred
- Experience with flooring installation and basic plumbing
- Previous experience training or mentoring junior workers
- OSHA 10 or 30-Hour certification
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Experience with residential and commercial projects
- Bilingual capabilities (Spanish/English)
Working Conditions
- Primarily outdoor work environments with exposure to weather conditions
- Standard construction hours with potential for overtime during project deadlines
- Travel to multiple job sites throughout Kalamazoo area
- Physical demands include standing, walking, climbing, and manual labor
- Use of power tools, ladders, and construction equipment
