Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is charged with delivering the company's vision of a fully electric transportation future. EVDD is customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data-driven and is dedicated to delivering industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You'll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out. Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams.
Are you ready to not just build the future of mobility, but also ensure it runs flawlessly, learns from every mile driven, and continuously improves through intelligent data analysis? At Ford, we're not just creating vehicles; we're crafting intelligent, connected experiences that are constantly evolving, and we need your expertise to make them even better. If you're a software validation expert who loves diving into data to proactively prevent issues and leverage cloud technologies, then get ready to accelerate your career - this could be your dream role!
We're on the lookout for an innovative, data-savvy, and cloud-fluent Data-Driven Powertrain Software Validation Engineer to join our forward-thinking team. This isn't just about testing software; it's about being a critical part of our continuous improvement cycle, ensuring our powertrain control modules (the brains behind our engines and electric motors!) are robust, reliable, and always getting smarter. You'll be instrumental in validating cutting-edge software and then using real-world connected vehicle data, powered by Google Cloud and sophisticated SQL queries, to identify and address potential issues before they even become a problem.
What You'll Be Doing (Your Impact!):
This role is a fantastic blend of hands-on software validation and insightful data analytics, with some emphasis on modern cloud technologies. You'll be at the forefront of ensuring our vehicles perform optimally and that our software is continuously refined based on real-world feedback.
Modernize Our Testing Ecosystem: You'll be a key architect in revamping our test environment, leading the charge to modernize and convert our current setup to the advanced dSpace SCALEXIO system, incorporating the latest software development tools and migrating our Python scripts to Python 3. This means more efficient, powerful, and future-proof testing!
Automate for Excellence: You'll design and implement automated processes for executing scripts and validating tests directly on the dSpace SCALEXIO bench, ensuring our validation processes are streamlined and consistent.
Deep Dive into Requirements: You'll meticulously gather unit-level requirements for the foundational functions of both our supplier-delivered low-level drivers and the high-level drivers developed right here at Ford.
Craft Robust Test Cases: You'll develop and continuously update comprehensive test cases, ensuring that every function of these drivers performs exactly as it's designed to, under all conditions.
Data-Driven Prevention & Cloud Power: This is where your cloud and data analysis skills shine! You'll be instrumental in creating insightful analytic dashboards using real-world connected vehicle data. Your mission? To leverage Google Cloud to access and process this data, write complex SQL queries to extract meaningful insights, and then build compelling dashboards to analyze quality issues, spot trends, and deep-dive into how we can proactively modify our software to prevent problems from ever occurring in the field. You'll be a detective, an analyst, and an engineer all rolled into one!
What you'll do...
Your Day-to-Day Adventure:
Every day will bring a fresh set of challenges and opportunities to learn and grow. You'll be:
Collaborating with Experts: Working hand-in-hand with our local Ford system experts to design, develop, and execute top-tier software validation suites.
Bridging Communication: Acting as a crucial interface between our PCM suppliers and Ford's software engineers, translating technical requirements, developing robust test strategies, and reviewing comprehensive test results.
Shaping the Future: Your work will directly impact our diverse range of vehicles, supporting gasoline, hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and battery electric vehicle (BEV) applications - truly contributing to the evolution of transportation!
Leveraging Cutting-Edge Tools: Getting hands-on with essential industry and modern software tools, including Git (or GitHub for version control), Matlab, dSpace ControlDesk, and dSpace ConfigurationDesk.
What You'll Bring to the Table (Qualifications):
We're looking for someone who is not only technically brilliant but also a curious problem-solver, a data enthusiast, and a collaborative team player.
You'll have...
