Position Summary:
The Pharmacist in Charge is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive pharmaceutical care of the highest quality. Although the Cardinal Pharmacy is an enterprise of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, it operates under the Migizi Economic Development Company Policies and Procedures.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs duties in a manner with Migizi Guest Service Standards. Coaches, enforces, and ensures that all Pharmacy employees meet and exceed these standards while performing their duties.
- While on duty, ensures that the pharmacy complies with all state and federal laws, regulations and rules governing the practice of pharmacy
- Supervises all activities of pharmacy employees as they relate to the practice of pharmacy including the purchasing, storage, compounding, repackaging, dispensing, and distribution of drugs and devices to ensure that those activities are performed in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
- Develops, revises, enforces and oversees policies applicable to the employees of the pharmacy for the procurement, storage, compounding, and dispensing of drugs and the communication of information in relation to drug therapy.
- Develops, revises, and supervises the method and manner for storage and safekeeping of pharmaceuticals, including maintenance of security provisions to be used when the pharmacy is closed.
- Develops and revises procedures for individuals who are delegated responsibilities for any of the areas contain in this description.
- Remains active and in good standing with all licensing requirements of the governing state board of pharmacy
- Ensures that all pharmacy records and inventories are maintained in accordance with state and federal laws, regulations and rules
- Plans department performance to comply with company guidelines
- Controls and evaluates pharmacy performance to achieve budget objectives and maintain a high level of customer acceptance
- Monitors returns and outdates closely
- Ensure proper coverage of pharmacy by licensed pharmacist
- Ensures effective utilization of department planning tools and checklists to monitor weekly progress
- Reviews prescriptions issued by physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed
- Issues verbal and written notices to pharmacy workers with regard to laws, rules and regulations
- While on duty, maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of pharmacy and controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs
- Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals.
- Develops, implements, and maintains written policies and procedures for the provision of pharmaceutical care services.
- Develops, implements, and maintains a departmental controls to assure compliance with State and Federal regulations as well as compliance with Cardinal Pharmacy policies.
- Participates in appropriate training to maintain required continuing education credentials and to further knowledge in specific areas of pharmaceutical care.
- Maintains a perpetual inventory of all controlled substances.
- Provides drug information, health promotion activities, and staff education relating to drug therapy and disease prevention.
- Must be available to work weekends and evenings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment/Safety Hazards:
Exposure to Pharmaceutical medications and chemicals. Frequent use of hand, wrists, and fingers associated with computer operation. May involve prolonged sitting, standing, and walking.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
· Licensed by the State of Michigan Board of Pharmacy as a registered pharmacist.
· Immunization certification through an accredited organization or willing to become a certified immunizer within six (6) months of hire date.
· Pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Preferred:
· Native American.
· Previous listing on the State pharmacy site as a pharmacist in charge
