Dawn Inspire Internship Program interns will benefit from:

Work Eligibility & Travel Requirements: Hybrid internship - 3 - 4 days a week, onsite at our Jackson, Michigan Home Office.
Interns will be required to be on-site at the Corporate Jackson office from May 18 - May 21 for onboarding, and from August 4 - 7 for final presentations. These are mandatory in-person participation dates for the internship program.
What Does It Take to be an EHS Intern?
Below are the minimum qualifications for the Dawn Inspire Internship Program.
Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree, with an interest in working in the Consumer Product Goods or Food industry.
The candidate must be entering their junior year or beyond.
Current academic status must reflect good performance in relation to institutional academic standards.
Strong interest in the industry or field related to the internship.
Basic knowledge of relevant concepts, principles and tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
Adaptability and willingness to embrace feedback and eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
What Will Set You Apart?
Foundational knowledge of occupational health and safety (OHS) principles and regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSHA)
Understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, job safety analysis (JSA), and safe work practices
Ability to interpret and organize data using systems or digital tools to support safety programs and documentation
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; interest in learning new platforms or tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and organizational awareness
Ability to collaborate professionally across departments and take direction from subject matter experts
Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset
Receptive to feedback and eager to contribute meaningfully to health and safety initiatives
What You'll Do as an EHS Intern
Conduct research on assigned topics and present findings to the team.
Collaborate with team members to brainstorm ideas and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
Shadow and learn from experienced professionals in your field of interest.
Actively seek opportunities to learn and develop new skills relevant to your career goals.
Take initiative to suggest process improvements and contribute innovative ideas.
Demonstrate the "Dawn Values" of Team Dawn and support our culture throughout the duration of the Internship Program.
Identified projects that you will be responsible for:
Assist in reviewing, formatting, and organizing occupational safety policies, procedures, and guidance documents for clarity and alignment
Support efforts to consolidate documentation into a central safety management system (e.g., policy library or intranet structure)
Aid in the development or refinement of safety training materials, presentations, and visual job aids for programs such as Ergonomics, Lockout/Tagout, Safe Behaviors & Safe Plan of Action, etc.
Utilize company tools and templates to assist with job safety analyses (JSAs), hazard assessments, and risk identification projects in coordination with EHS&S team members
Participate in safety-related research, benchmarking, and documentation cleanup efforts to ensure program consistency across sites
Collaborate with Corporate and Regional EHS&S team members on cross-functional initiatives, with exposure to manufacturing and distribution environments
