GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reports to the Director of Support Services. Responsible for providing the Henry Ford Hospital Campus (HFHC) with adequate, safe, and controlled environment systems (i.e. heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and steam). Supervises the activities of mechanics, engineers, boiler operators, and others who operate, monitor, maintain, and repair the environmental systems of the HFHC. Supervises economical dispatch of central energy consuming equipment. Responsible for the safe and sanitary delivery, operation and maintenance of potable water, sewerage and medical gas systems on the Henry Ford Hospital Campus (HFHC). Supervises a group of employees and outside contractors engaged in maintenance and repair of these systems at HFHC. Ensures proper maintenance, operation and planned expansion of these environmental systems and assures that they are in compliance with all State, City and health plumbing regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a high school program emphasizing building trades.
Additional apprenticeship training in a skilled building trade.
Minimum of three to five years of related work experience.
Must have City of Detroit First Class Refrigeration Operator's license and Boiler Operator license or equivalent license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May work in temperature extremes and under noisy conditions.
Must have the physical ability to walk throughout the Hospital Campus conducting inspection tours.
