CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Possession of a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an (NT) endorsement to provide
Guidance and Counseling on the middle school level.
2. Possession of exceptional oral and written communication skills
3. Possession of demonstrated abilities in problem solving, resolution and decision making
4. Experience with Skyward student scheduling and the creation and management of
building master schedules
5. Compliance with state, district and school regulations and procedures and policies
JOB DUTIES:
1. Provide effective individual or group counseling assistance in crisis or personal situations
2. Monitor student academic performance and progress on a regular recurring basis
3. Assist staff with CPS referrals
4. Conduct regular classroom presentations to 6th, 7th and 8th graders
5. Communicate thoroughly and effectively with the public, students and staff
6. Initiate and maintain communication with stakeholders regarding student performance
and behavior
7. Plan, organize and prioritize while meeting timelines related to school and state mandates
8. Coordinate and facilitate 504s
9. Organize and facilitate EDPs
10. Assign balanced homeroom placements for all students yearly
11. Facilitate 8th grade Career Day at LCC West
12. Organize and facilitate 5th grade orientation annually
13. Facilitate administration of national and state assessments
14. Assist families in accessing mental health resources
15. Facilitate Student Intervention Team
16. Assist in Retention Process
PREFERRED:
1. A minimum of three successful years of classroom experience
2. Knowledge of NUMATS Program, PSAT, MSTEP, and NWEA
3. Experience in PALs Programming and ability to become trained PALs Advisor
4. Experience helping students with Career Pathways and Four-year Plans
5. Experience with school-wide prevention programs such as SOS and CSI
