Position Summary:
We are seeking a Lead Credit Risk and Model Risk Consultant to join a major North American financial institution with a broad global footprint. This role will focus on supporting audit and risk review activities by assessing model governance, compliance, and control environments. The consultant will serve as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert across complex modeling frameworks and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties:
· Lead end-to-end audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, reporting, continuous monitoring, and tracking of remediation efforts.
· Promote awareness of model risk management principles and act as a thought leader within Internal Audit.
· Oversee team delivery against audit commitments, monitor resourcing, and manage timelines to meet senior management expectations.
· Develop and contribute to the annual audit plan, ensuring comprehensive coverage of model-related risks and priority areas.
· Ensure all work adheres to established audit standards and methodologies.
· Serve as a trusted advisor to management and audit leadership by applying deep knowledge of the Bank's model risk framework, regulatory requirements, and emerging industry practices.
· Coordinate responses to ad-hoc regulatory and stakeholder requests.
· Foster a positive and inclusive work culture, support staff development, and champion engagement and diversity initiatives.
Qualifications:
· Advanced academic background in finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, financial engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
· Strong expertise in modeling concepts, model risk management, and risk domains such as credit, market, liquidity, interest rate, AML, and financial crimes.
· Ability to critically evaluate and challenge model risk issues, including conceptual soundness, assumptions, and intended use.
· Knowledge of financial instruments and portfolios, including credit, valuation, liquidity, and interest rate risk, as well as regulatory and reporting standards (CAR, CECL, FRTB, Stress Testing).
· Proficiency in programming and data analysis (e.g., SAS, Python).
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex quantitative issues for senior audiences.
· Familiarity with model risk regulations, capital adequacy frameworks, and evolving practices such as ESG and AI/ML.
Skills and Job-Specific Competencies:
· Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing and motivating diverse, high-performing teams.
· Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
· Resilient under pressure, with strong prioritization and organizational skills to manage multiple high-stakes projects.
· Prior experience with risk management processes across multiple risk stripes (credit, market, liquidity, AML, etc.) is an asset.
Travel Requirements: No travel will be required, unless at the client's discretion.

Salary Range: SolomonEdwards values your unique and individual experience and background. As such, we take a comprehensive approach when determining compensation for our roles. The compensation for this specific role is based on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to education, licensure and certifications, location, experience, and training. A reasonable estimate for the current hourly range for this role is $50 - 75.
