Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Marshall, Michigan. In this role, you will focus on managing self-pay accounts, ensuring timely follow-up and collection efforts while providing exceptional service to patients. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals with expertise in healthcare billing and accounts receivable processes.
Responsibilities:
Conduct follow-up activities for self-pay accounts, including outbound collection calls in line with established procedures.
Assist patients in setting up payment plans for outstanding balances in accordance with hospital policies.
Guide patients through the financial assistance program application process to determine eligibility.
Analyze and interpret financial data to maintain accurate and up-to-date account records.
Document account histories thoroughly and ensure compliance with procedural guidelines.
Verify patient insurance information and update systems to facilitate accurate billing to the appropriate payer.
Manage a high volume of incoming calls, addressing patient inquiries regarding balances, insurance coverage, and payment options.
Provide clear and timely responses to patient requests for information, ensuring satisfaction and resolution.
Support patients by answering questions related to insurance claims and outstanding account balances.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to support departmental goals. Requirements
Proven experience in accounts receivable, preferably within the healthcare industry.
Strong knowledge of collection processes and operations, including inbound and outbound call handling.
Skilled in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Excellent customer service abilities, with a focus on clear communication and problem-solving.
Familiarity with financial assistance programs and eligibility requirements.
Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of numerical data accurately.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle high call volumes and multiple account inquiries effectively.
