Proto Shapes, Inc., a short run plastic and rubber parts production company, is seeking a production technician to manufacture quality products effectively and efficiently by adequately performing all of the necessary aspects of the position.

EXPERIENCE
- Required: One or more years of experience in production.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

PHYSICAL
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- BODY POSITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- BODY MOVEMENTS: The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals; and bending, reaching, and crouching.
- BODY SENSES: Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to shift in focus from computer screens to close forms.
- STRENGTH: Must have the ability to lift 45+ Pounds with regularity.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position will be working primarily indoors, in a climate controlled and smoke-free environment.
- The employee may stand in one area for long periods of time or move throughout other areas of production on a regular basis. From this movement, the employee will encounter varying temperatures from these areas. The normal auto and air travel hazards will apply. Travel will be in all types of weather including heavy rain and below freezing temperatures with snow conditions possible.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be higher in other areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Excellent work attendance and on time performance.
- Willingness and ability to learn.
- Able to follow instructions (ask questions).
- Maintain a neat and clean workstation.
- Instructed in “Shooting “molds, part removal, and proper trimming techniques.
- Machine Maintenance – Shut down.
- Always work safely, using correct safety equipment.
- Perform jobs assigned by the Production Supervisor.
- Know the correct tool needed for the assignment. (e.g., mold release, special presses, clamping devices, inserts, screws, bolts, etc.)
- Knowledge of adequate versus inadequate parts. (e.g., proper mold release, machine hick-ups, key dimensions, etc.).
- Understand Orange Sheets completely.
- Understand fluid type, consistency, jell times, etc.
- Capable of running any mold in production.
- Ability to use pressure pots.
- Basic trouble shooting techniques. (e.g., tilt mold, need accelerator, need a pressure pot, different pressure on machine, small mixing sprues versus large, etc.).
- Assist co-workers as needed (e.g., exhibit leadership skills and be a team player)
- Ability to work with different materials such as rubbers, and foam.
- Ability to hand mix materials, hand pour molds, etc.
- Basic knowledge of the machines. (e.g., filling, components, gel times, set timing, etc.).
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with all employees, including various levels of management.
- Ability to complete production logs or other necessary paperwork
- Be willing to cross train in other areas of production.
- Performance is measured by the quality and quantity of parts produced daily.
