POSITION: Grayling High School ISS/ Media Center At-Risk Paraprofessional
DESCRIPTION: The primary responsibilities of this position is the oversight and management of the Grayling
High School Media Center and In-School Suspension program. Additional responsibilities will
include lunchroom supervision, hallway/bathroom pass monitoring, and basic technology
support/troubleshooting. Other duties may be assigned by administration as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must:
? Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
? Possess a positive attitude, patience, flexibility, good listening skills and creative problem-solving skills.
? Have strong self-initiative and the ability to work without direct supervision.
? Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with all school stakeholders (ie: students, staff,
teachers, parents, administrators, etc.)
? Show strong organizational skills specifically related to maintaining school records, data, and media center
inventory.
? Demonstrate the ability to use discretion when discussing sensitive student information.
? Training in CPI and/or TBRI strategies preferred. (This must occur within one year of hire)
Preference will be given to applicants who:
? Show an exceptional ability to foster working relationships with adults and children.
? Have a positive work history in regards to punctuality, attendance, and performance.
? Show a strong ability to work as part of a team.
? Demonstrate the ability to work well with all students at the high school level.
? Proficiently use technology like the Google Suite of applications (or comparable applications).
? Have prior experiences teaching strategies for behavioral success.
? Have experience working with school age students at the individual and small group level.
? Familiarity with student information systems like Skyward, Powerschool, etc.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)
? Work with individual students or groups of students to assist them in achieving their social and behavioral goals.
? Supervising duties which may include: lunchroom behavior, hallway and bathroom pass monitoring, in-school
suspension students, and students working within the GHS media center.
? Assist administration with attendance monitoring and communications (attendance letters, attendance phone calls,
etc.)
? Assist technology department with general technology repairs, troubleshooting, and inventory tracking.
? Assist teachers and administration by using verbal and non-verbal techniques to de-escalate student behavior.
? Actively participate in individual student behavior plan development and implementation.
Behavioral coaching and monitoring of individual students or small groups of students.
? Maintaining confidential student records and reports. This could include ISS data and records generating various
attendance reports and graphs as requested by administration.
? Maintaining open lines of communication with teachers and staff members to provide necessary ISS and
behavioral awareness and training.
? Following and upholding all Crawford AuSable School District policies and procedures.
? Maintain regular and reliable employee attendance.
? Completion of all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by administration.
WORK YEAR: Student days plus vacation and holidays, 7 hours per day.
SALARY: According to the terms of the Master Agreement.
