THIS IS A NON-CAREER APPOINTMENT THAT IS LIMITED TO 129 HOURS PER MONTH
Are you a student looking for real world work experience? Do you love working with data? Are youlooking for a job that works around your class schedule? If so, MDOT has the perfect studentassistant position for you. Our Travel Information Unit is looking for a self-starter to help with dataprocessing and reporting.
This position offers on-the-job training with professional-level participation. We offer options for fieldwork observation. Have you always wanted to know how MDOT does what we do? You may have seen road tubes, but did you know that MDOT also collects data using video imaging, as well as magnetometers, microwave, infrared, and weigh in-motion sensors to collect data from airports to vehicle traffic and micromobility? This data can be utilized for everything from planning the Gordie Howe International Bridge to providing the safest and most efficient detours during orange barrel season, to modeling air quality levels for improvements in environmental justice. If you are interested in field data and how it can help shape the future of our state, come work with us.
The primary duty of this position would be to provide support for the Traffic Data Management System (TDMS), including assigning historical traffic data within the TDMS software, data scrubbing, data review, and data entry.
Additional duties include supporting the Travel Information Unit's GIS data maintenance, processing, and integration utilizing ArcGIS Desktop/Pro and other ESRI software for reviewing, editing, and geoprocessing of traffic-related datasets.
