Hours: Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands. May require weekend or evening hours. Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.
Job summary:
The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing speech, language and dysphagia services to patients. The Speech Language Pathologist provides a full range of Speech therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and interventions in a manner consistent with qualifications and standards of practice.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
- Graduate of a Master’s or Doctoral Program
- Demonstrates the ability to establish good working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families and other support personnel.
- Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining a hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees.
- Influences the direction of Speech Language Services by maintaining a positive perspective/attitude.
- Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple tasks in a stressful situation while maintaining composure and excellence in the delivery of therapy services.
- Ability to promote and adapt to change in order to keep current with Speech Therapy care duties.
- Ability to apply the principals of quality speech therapy care and prepare patient programs.
- Evidence of a sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty and positive attitude.
- Ability to delegate appropriate tasks to support staff.
Licensure/Certification
Current State of Michigan Speech Language Pathologist.
Current BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
