Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Senior Platform Engineer provides virtual and physical infrastructure evaluation, design, implementation, and 3rd level technical support services to staff and customers on software systems by testing software and hardware products and maintaining associated documentation. The incumbent will provide application Life Cycle management including software packaging and deployment services to meet business needs. They will troubleshoot very difficult infrastructure problems which can involve other groups such as servers, network, and Information Security. As well as utilizing automation to remove wasted efforts and improve user experience.
The M365 Sr. Engineer is responsible for providing advanced technical support and expertise in the Microsoft 365 environment. This role involves the administration of M365 services primarily focusing on Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in messaging, cloud technologies, security best practices, PowerShell, and end-user support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implement group policies to secure systems and improve desktop support
Evaluate, design, plan, and configure infrastructure, applications, monitor, and management tools to best meet the company needs, and information security guidelines
Monitor vulnerabilities, plan and implement all remediation steps to meet Information security requirements
Complete Life Cycle management for all desktop operating systems and core desktop applications
Provide software packaging and distribution for both desktops and servers; includes scripting to improve performance or reduce manual effort
Provide highly technical (3rd Level) hardware and software break-fix support to end users for tickets escalated from the Service Desk, desktop, Information Security, or other support groups
Provide timely response to client and management requests
Give status updates on such requests on a regular basis
Assist end-users and other IT groups by phone and email with third-level technical support
Contribute knowledge and updated information to maintain the Help Desk and desktop SOPs and Training manuals for Tier I/II support
Work with server, network and IS groups to resolve technical problems on the desktop or project based requests
Utilize scripting to automate and remove manual steps and improve user satisfaction
Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications to perform End Point management services
Technical skills to design, plan and implement highly Technical infrastructure and applications (virtual and physical) solutions
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in computer, science, or related field with four (4) or more years of experience in an advanced platform engineer role
[OR] Associate's Degree in computer, science, or related field with six (6) or more years of experience in an advanced platform engineer role
[OR] High School Diploma/GED with eight (8) or more years of experience in an advanced platform engineer role
Preferred Experience
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 services and related technologies, with focus on Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
