Reporting to the Associate Director of Human Resources, the HR Assistant will be a part of a dynamic school and be responsible for a variety of HR activities to support the entire UMSI HR team. The UMSI HR Team is responsible for transactions related to employee appointments, providing consultative services to management, faculty, and staff of UMSI, administering employment, compensation, staff and union relations, and for administering the UMSI compensation program and the performance management cycle.
- Responsible for processing, onboarding, offboarding, and maintaining all temporary appointments.
- Maintain internal process documentation and best practices, updating as changes arise.
- Provide administrative support for the HR team for graduate student, staff, and faculty appointments.
- Responsible for overall time reporting for UMSI temporary and staff employees.
- Audit employee records on a quarterly basis for accuracy.
- Take part in UMSI service, learning and professional development.
- Associates degree or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in an HR or administrative support role requiring confidentiality, customer service, organization, and prioritization.
- Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
- Demonstrated the ability to adapt to new technologies and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and professionally, with staff, faculty, and students.
- Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

The salary range for this position is $43,000 to $49,000. Salary is determined by direct relevant experience and demonstrated past performance results while ensuring equity on our team. All candidates are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor alignment and transparency throughout the recruiting process.
