Outside Sales Representative – VanderZiel Machinery & Sales
Position Overview
You’ll be the face of VanderZiel in the field, serving West Michigan machine shops, manufacturers, and industrial clients. This role involves proactive lead generation, on-site demos, and relationship-building to grow revenue and market presence. Expect consistent travel within a defined territory.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Prospect and qualify leads through cold calling, site visits, trade shows, and referrals
- Present and demo new and used machinery lines, parts, and service packages
- Prepare quotes and negotiate deals using Salesforce CRM
- Track and manage sales pipeline, forecasts, and follow-up activities
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shop managers, engineers, and decision-makers
- Coordinate with internal service and parts teams for seamless post-sale support
- Act quickly to resolve customer concerns and ensure satisfaction
Territory & Administrative
- Strategically cover an assigned territory with efficient planning and time management
- Accurately log travel, expenses, and customer interactions in CRM
- Represent VanderZiel at trade shows and vendor events
Qualifications & Skills
- 2+ years of outside sales experience, preferably with industrial or machine tool equipment
- Technical aptitude and understanding of industrial machinery
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with a polished professional presence
- Demonstrated success in territory development, cold outreach, and hitting sales goals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field, is a plus
