Unit Position Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to support campus operations by moving office furniture and equipment within and between university buildings, including disassembling and reassembling items as necessary. The role involves setting up and taking down equipment for athletic events, livestock shows, conferences, dances, lectures, and concerts. The employee will operate university motor vehicles such as forklifts, vans, trailers, and trucks to transport furniture, equipment, and event materials both on and off campus. Additional duties may include assembling new furniture (e.g., desks, cabinets, chairs, and modular furniture) and delivering salt and project material to university properties and buildings.
Desired Qualifications
- A valid vehicle operator's license is required, as the position involves driving a University vehicle. Applicants must have a clean driving record and pass both the departmental motor vehicle background check and the university criminal background check.
- Basic knowledge of tools, methods, equipment, and materials used in logistics, maintenance, and commercial moving are required.
- The job involves frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds and occasional lifting of more than 75 pounds. Safety footwear, such as leather work boots, is required. The position also requires working in various weather conditions and may include after-hours, weekend, and holiday work.
- Participation in MSU’s football season (setup, teardown and cleanup) and snow removal operations are required. MSU is a tobacco-free campus, and tobacco use is prohibited on campus, including during work breaks and in personal vehicles parked on campus.
- Experience in general maintenance furniture installation, construction, logistics, or warehousing.
- Experience operating commercial moving tools, construction equipment and logistics support.
- Experience with hand tools.
- Experience in snow removal.
- Possession of Chauffeurs License

Work Hours
M-F from 8am-4:30pm with significant after-hours, weekend, & holiday work. Shifts may vary depending on seasonality of work requirements or emergency situations e.g. snow removal, football cleanup, or other events support.
