Global Express Transportation, Inc. is seeking to fill seventeen (17) temporary, full-time peakload truck driver positions (SOC Code: 53-3032.00 Heavy and Tractor Trailer Truck Drivers) for October 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026. Worksite: 1000 John R Road, Suite 102, Troy, Michigan 48083 and Oakland, Eaton, Wayne, Livingston, Macomb, Kent, Shiawassee, Ingham, St. Clair, Ionia, Barry, Clinton, Monroe, Lapeer, and Genesee counties in MI.
Job Duties: Drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). May be required to unload truck. Requires commercial drivers' license. Check vehicles to ensure equipment in good working order. Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers. Inspect loads to ensure cargo is secure. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Maintain logs of hours and/or vehicle service/repair status following applicable state and federal regulations. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods as required. Working at night may be required.
Requirements: No education required. Twelve (12) months experience required.
Special Requirements: A valid commercial driver’s license with double trailer endorsement is required. The commercial driver's license should be of an appropriate class and have an appropriate endorsement, if required, that will allow the driver to pull a double trailer and a vehicle exceeding 26,000 lbs. For example, class a commercial driver’s license issued by the Michigan secretary of state with a double trailer (T) endorsement would be accepted, or a Michigan seasonal restricted cdl. -similar international commercial driver's licenses with a similar endorsement to pull a double trailer will also be accepted, such as a licencia federal de conductor categoria "e" en modalidad internacional from Mexico, or a doble articulado internacional, or any equivalent valid commercial driver's license with double trailer endorsement from the country of origin.
Must comply with applicable requirements of the United States Department of Transportation regulations. Workers must have proficiency in English to communicate, read, and comprehend traffic signage and interact with roadway officials.
Must be 18 years old. Working at night may be required. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime. Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule. Pre-employment and Post employment random drug testing & background checks may be required, at no cost to the worker. Applicants will be subject to a pre-employment reference check, which will include job verification, driving history, and work experience check. Applicants may be required to demonstrate a clean driving record by presenting a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) or through other means available, such as through a reference check. Truck drivers will travel as part of their regular job duties within the specified geographic locations in the appendix A (throughout the state of Michigan) to make deliveries.
Basic English proficiency required to read road signs, complete delivery logs, communicate with dispatch, and ensure safe operation of vehicle in accordance with DOT regulations.
Terms and conditions of employment: $26.12/hr, 35 hours/week, Sun, Mon, Wed-Fri, 5:00PM-1:00AM. Overtime available at $39.18 per hour. Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Employees will be paid weekly on Friday. Workers will be provided with daily transportation to and from the worksite in compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations. On the job training available. Workers will be provided, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned.
Employer will make all deductions required by law and no others without written consent from worker. The employer does not envision other workforce-wide payroll deductions. Potential elective deductions to be pre-authorized in writing if applicable are as follows: Truck provided for drivers' use. Employer will make all deductions required by law and no others without consent from worker. Bonuses may be offered at company's discretion based on work performance, skill & tenure. Cash advances available. Employer to assist workers in securing board, lodging or other facilities. Optional shared housing is offered. Cost of housing, including utilities, if accepted, is up to $150.00 weekly. If elected, total cost of rent and utilities will be deducted from paycheck. Employer offers option for $300 cash advance loan per week to be repaid by worker and deducted from their subsequent paycheck.
The employer will reimburse an H-2B worker in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker. From the place from which the worker has come to work, whether in the US or abroad, to the place of employment, if the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will provide advance payment for transportation and subsistence (including meals and to the extent necessary, lodging) from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts. Three-fourths guarantee: The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. Tools, equipment and supplies: The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, & equipment required to perform the job.
Additional Requirements: In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, employers are required to provide earned sick time to their employees. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business
