EDUCATION ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Position Summary:
The Education Engagement Coordinator is a member of the WCMU Marketing Team, leading efforts in the creation and implementation of educational outreach programs of impact for kids, families and educators across central and northern Michigan; this will include support of the weekly WCMU Family E-Newsletter. The Education Engagement Coordinator will also be responsible for connecting with educators at all levels across our coverage area to promote WCMU educational content including the Michigan Learning Channel (a statewide collaboration between Michigan’s public television stations), PBS LearningMedia, and PBS Kids.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, Early Childhood Development, Marketing or Communications, or a combination of education and work experience that equates to 4 years.
Experience as a customer service representative or previous stakeholder engagement experience.
Experience with Microsoft suite of workplace tools.
Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with various constituencies.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to be a self-motivated team player with the ability to inspire trust and confidence with colleagues and the public.
Ability and willingness to travel and work weekends as needed.
Demonstrated ability to project a positive image.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of professional work experience, preferably in a classroom or community engagement environment.
Experience writing proposals and grant applications.
Experience in the field of marketing.
Demonstrated ability to act independently in the creation and implementation of new program concepts.
Demonstrated understanding of the mission of public media.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Builds relationships with school districts, ISDs, and teachers within the viewing area to promote WCMU educational programs including the Michigan
Learning Channel, PBS Kids and PBS Learning Media.
Coordinates electronic communications to families and educators within the station’s viewing area about WCMU’s educational programming, digital resources, special events, and training opportunities.
Collects testimonials and best practices on how educators are using WCMU’s educational assets, including the Michigan Learning Channel.
Proposes and plans special events and training opportunities to improve usage of WCMU’s educational assets, including the Michigan Learning Channel.
Suggests opportunities to build out new content areas that are important to stakeholders at various grade levels and subject areas.
Supplies educational programming schedules to teachers across central and northern Michigan to support lesson planning.
Aligns promotional campaigns with the school calendar, important school events, as well as opportunities tied to specialized audiences.
Participates in on-air messaging, social media, and other platforms to improve communication among teachers and administrators region wide.
Enters engagement activities and attendance statistics into a CRM system provided by the Michigan Learning Channel.
Participates in scheduled training opportunities and meetings with the Michigan Learning Channel staff and participating stations.
