Interpret mechanical system and subsystem requirements and design, model, and simulate electrical and mechanical subystems in vacuum environments. Perform feasibility studies and proof of concepts. Provide solutions to various structural and dynamic requirements for precision mechanisms. Loop shaping design in the frequency domain and utilize understanding of different types of filters such as notch, low pass, high pass, lead/lag, and PID filters. Specify, document, and procure components such as controller, amplifier, actuators, and sensors for precision motion. Investigate and assist in the coordination of cost, schedule, and scope, balancing tradeoffs when necessary. Participate in design reviews. Assemble and test subcomponents and system level assemblies. Interact with manufacturing and service teams to support smooth product transition into manufacturing. Contribute to system-level discussions including impact on overall system performance. Help with troubleshooting and resolving issues and escalations both at subsystem and system levels.
