Job Details

The Behavior Interventionist supports students exhibiting behavioral and social-emotional challenges that interfere with learning or the school environment. This individual works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, support staff, and families to develop and implement effective behavioral supports and interventions across K-12 grade levels. The goal is to promote positive behavior, increase student engagement, and help all students succeed in a safe and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in the development of student support team meetings, functional behavior assessments (FBAs), and support the development of individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students with behavioral challenges.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group behavioral interventions to students, using evidence-based practices to encourage the development of adaptive skills.
• Work with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel to implement and monitor behavior interventions within the classroom setting.
• Assist and coach in de-escalating crises and provide support to students with challenging behaviors, using non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
• Monitor and track data on student behavior to assess progress and adjust interventions as necessary.
• Collaborate with parents and families to communicate intervention plans, progress, and strategies for supporting behavior management at home.
• Implement evidence-based Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions and strategies as outlined in individualized BIPs.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all legal, ethical, and school policies related to student behavior and records.
• Support students with re-entry plans after suspensions or behavioral incidents
