KITCHEN MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Description:
The job of a kitchen manager requires a person to make sure that the kitchen functions in a proper order and oversee various functions, such as food preparation, kitchen safety, food safety, kitchen inventory, portion control, ensuring hygiene and shift kitchen staffing.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Make sure the desired level of cleanliness is kept up in all areas of the kitchen
- Make sure proper procedures are followed, such as labeling and dating, wearing gloves and aprons, rotation of food, fryers drained and cleaned, etc.
- Inventory control and portioning, making sure consistency in food quality and quantity
- Manage kitchen expenses, meet with vendors and work with administrator on a P&L
- Ability to put together specials using inventory and creative ideas
- Planning strategies for improving staff performance and food quality
- Make sure all safety standards are followed
- Overall make sure that the consistent quality is maintained in all areas of the kitchen
Skills and Specifications
- Knowledge of various kitchen operations
- Excellent customer service ethics
- Excellent communication and management skills
- Certified in safe food preparation (ServSafe, State Food Safety)
Kitchen Manager Salary
- To be determined based on experience
Summary: we are willing to work with the right person that fits into the position if the individual would like to start out as a cook with the idea of a leader position. If the individual is not certified in food handling, a reasonable time will be set to become certified with class cost reimbursement.
