The Convention Services Manager at the Royal Dearborn Hotel serves as liason between the client or Meeting Planner and the various departments to coordinate meetings, conventions and other special events held in our iconic hotel. This individual will organize banquet or catering services, plan any changes to the configuration of the event space and collaborate with our Audio Visual Services provider to ensure a successful event.
Responsibilities:
Manages and coordinates conferences, meetings, group functions and group activities booked through Sales department.
Coordinates food/beverage requirements, audio visual needs, and hotel services within approved departmental booking guidelines.
Work with Sales staff to service business and monitor and handle inquiry calls and assist with client proposals.
Work with other hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the Sales Office and prospective clients.
Develops a close rapport and working relationship with all clients.
Help to maximize revenues through food and beverage enhancements.
Effectively communicate and work closely with Banquet, Culinary, and other operational departments so as to ensure the smooth execution of all events.
Prepare and send out all banquet event orders and assist with proposals.
Manage events from the initial inquiry through the sales process to the successful completion of the event for short term inquiries.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a Catering Manager, Conference Service or Event in a hotel or conference center will be the only applicants considered.
Exceptional Presentation and Customer Service Skills
Professional Written and Verbal Communication
Knowledge of Menu and Meal Planning
Degree in Hospitality or comparable experience preferred
