EMS Grand Rapids is a premier electric motor and industrial repair business in Grand Rapids and is seeking to hire an enthusiastic and hardworking individual as an electric motor repair technician.
Job description:
Troubleshoot and repair various electric motors, pumps, gearboxes and other electrical mechanical rotating equipment.
Location: In shop and occasionally at customer site
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Understand and follow all Safety processes and procedures including the use of required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Test electro-mechanical rotating equipment using specialized equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various testing methods (AC/DC).
• Disassemble equipment noting parts identification, configuration, and condition.
- Prepare inspection form along with identification of replacement parts.
• Clean equipment assemblies as needed.
- Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electrical parts and assemblies, included but limited to: Brushes, bearings, brush holders, gears, seals, impellers, brakes etc.
- Test repaired apparatus for proper output and/or operation
• Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
Job Requirements:
- General electrical or mechanical aptitude (1-3 years preferred)
- Reliable and strong work ethic
- Ability to operate grinders, drills, cranes, forklift, torches, etc.
- Initiative to learn new things and advance your knowledge in the trade
- High school diploma
- Valid Driver’s license
