GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Director, Communications Strategy, Value-Based Enterprise is responsible for enhancing Henry Ford Health's mission to transform healthcare through its organized care model and associated strategies and programs (value-based care) and positioning the health system as a leader and innovator. Committed to building well-informed, highly-engaged internal and external audiences, the director will partner with communications and other leaders to develop and execute an enterprise-wide strategy and approach to internal communications and engagement, media relations, executive communications, thought leadership and storytelling strategies for the health system's value-based enterprise which includes its insurance company Health Alliance Plan (HAP), Clinically Integrated Network, population health company Populance, and Community Care Services division, which includes multiple healthcare retail services including pharmacy. This person reports to the Vice President, Integrated Communications.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute enterprise-wide communications strategies focused on driving growth and alignment of the health system's value-based enterprise - serving as a key partner to the health system's President, Value-Based Enterprise and Chief Financial Officer, and other key executives. Also serve as lead communications and public relations strategist for key entities including HAP, Populance and other related entities within the Henry Ford Health family of companies.
Content Development: Lead the creation of high-impact content development - focused on building awareness and literacy of value-based care, creating narrative frameworks and deliverables that resonate with a broad spectrum of stakeholders
Internal Communications & Engagement: Provide direct, internal communications support for team members within the value-based care enterprise, while partnering with communications leaders to coordinate and align strategies across the broader care delivery system and organization.
Advanced Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with national, healthcare and trade media and position the health system as a thought leader and innovator in value-based care.
Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with key leaders to engage external stakeholders, leveraging strategic public relations to help shape conversations and advocacy for the healthcare's mission to transform healthcare through value-based initiatives that improve outcomes, experience and cost of care.
Crisis and Issues Management: Anticipate and manage emerging crisis, regulatory and other issues within the enterprise, working in partnership with communications and other leaders to respond appropriately.
Reputation & Thought Leadership: Elevate health system leaders through thought leadership, op-ed and other executive content, strategic award submissions, and speaking engagements.
Management & Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of communications professionals - focused on driving strategy and high performance, creating high-impact communications, and building strong team culture. May also need to manage agency partners.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Twelve or more years' experience in public relations, communications, journalism or a related field, with increasing leadership responsibility, and demonstrated understanding of the value-based care, health insurance, population health, care management spaces.
Must be a critical thinker with exception oral, written and digital communication skills.
Ability to distill complex topics across a broad spectrum of audiences. Must be guided by proactive curiosity, a spirit of innovation, and a collaborative client partner orientation.
Ability to manage multiple projects, accounts and complex issues with confidence and attention to detail and accuracy.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Minimum of bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Public Relations, Communications, healthcare administration or a related field
