What you'll do...
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead warehouse team, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance.
Manage daily team operations ensuring safety protocols are rigorously followed, and team members are effectively deployed across Receiving, Packaging, Replenishment, Picking, and Shipping functions.
Operational Management & Performance Excellence:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the external warehouse, ensuring inventory is accurately tracked, and orders are fulfilled in a timely and precise manner.
Deliver on key operational objectives related to Cost, Quality, Safety, and Efficiency (CQSE) for all external warehouse activities.
Monitor and manage warehouse capacity, throughput, and workflow to optimize space utilization and operational efficiency.
Implement and sustain robust processes for all warehouse functions, ensuring compliance with Ford standards and best practices.
Develop and manage contingency plans to address potential disruptions in external warehouse operations.
3PL & Stakeholder Management:
Act as the primary point of contact and relationship manager for the 3PL provider(s) operating the external warehouse.
Ensure fair and consistent administration of 3PL contracts, monitoring performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Conduct regular performance reviews with the 3PL provider, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Engage effectively with key internal stakeholders (e.g., Plant Operations, MP&L Planners, Finance) and external suppliers to align on objectives and resolve issues collaboratively.
Maintain a positive and productive working relationship with all stakeholders, fostering open communication and partnership.
Inventory Control & Systems Integrity:
Ensure meticulous inventory accuracy within the external warehouse through robust cycle counting programs, discrepancy investigation, and root cause analysis.
Oversee the effective use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and interface with Ford's ERP (e.g., SAP) to ensure data integrity and seamless information flow.
Develop and implement procedures to minimize inventory shrink, damage, and obsolescence.
Support new part introductions and engineering changes, ensuring smooth transitions within the external warehouse.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization:
Champion a culture of continuous improvement (e.g., Kaizen, Lean principles) within the external warehouse operations, identifying and implementing efficiency gains.
Analyze operational data and KPIs to identify trends, areas for improvement, and cost-saving opportunities.
Lead and participate in projects aimed at optimizing warehouse layout, processes, material flow, and resource utilization.
Manage the external warehouse budget effectively, controlling operational costs and identifying opportunities for cost reduction without compromising safety or quality.
You'll have...
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Strong 3PL Management Skills: Demonstrable experience in managing and optimizing relationships and performance with third-party logistics providers.
Experience minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in warehouse management, logistics, or supply chain operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership/supervisory role.
Proven experience in managing external/3PL warehouse operations and relationships.
Strong working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
In-depth understanding of all core warehousing processes (Receiving, Storage, Picking, Packing, Shipping, Inventory Control).
Ability to work flexible hours, including potential for off-shift or weekend support as operational needs dictate.
Specific experience within the automotive MP&L sector.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
Experience with warehouse design, layout optimization, and new warehouse start-ups.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g. Power BI).
MP&L (Material Planning & Logistics) experience preferred.
Knowledge of constraint management principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).
