Position Summary:
The Department of Biology at Central Michigan University seeks applications for a fixed-term faculty position at 75% to begin Fall 2025. We are particularly interested in candidates who can support our teaching mission for our undergraduate program in https://www.cmich.edu/program/biology-ecology-evolution-conservation by teaching lower- and upper-level courses in this concentration. Potential courses include BIO 213 (Foundations of Ecology), BIO 500 (Biostatistics), and upper-level electives in ecology, evolution, and conservation biology, and potentially other electives depending on the candidate’s area of expertise. Candidates whose teaching strengths that could also contribute to other areas of biology are also encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in biology or a related field.
• Demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching and learning environment where all can thrive.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience teaching at the college level.
• Experience in plant biology, biostatistics, and other ecology and conservation biology fields.
• Experience in active learning teaching approaches.
• Knowledge of modern pedagogical practices.

About the Department:
The https://www.cmich.edu/academics/colleges/college-science-engineering/departments-schools/biology is an interactive group of 28 tenure-track, 3 research, and 3 fixed-term faculty with diverse expertise across the discipline of biology. The Department of Biology is primarily housed in the new Biosciences Building, which features modern teaching and laboratory spaces. Our teaching spaces include an active learning classroom. We also have a greenhouse, vivarium, microscopy facility, field sites, and a biological research station.
