ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services in southern Michigan and Ohio. A national leader in treatment of heart attack, congestive heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care, ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital is also a pacesetter in Michigan for obstetrics, emergency care, intensive care, controlling infections and organ donation.
Position Summary
The Chaplain serves as pastoral caregiver to patients, families and staff in emergency and urgent situations during nights, weekends and holidays, when regular staff is not in the hospital.
Must be available to serve as on-call chaplains. Needs to be available by telephone or pager at all times during on-call shifts and able to respond immediately when contacted by a hospital. If the situation is an emergency, chaplain must arrive at the hospital within 30-45 minutes. Backup on-call chaplains have 60 minutes to arrive at the hospital. Shares responsibility within the department for on-call shifts. Minimum of 3 on-call shifts per month is required. Shares responsibility within the department to cover one holiday per calendar year. Attends monthly spiritual care meetings. Completes appropriate documentation, electronically and using appropriate forms, and maintains accurate statistics for the department. Must coordinate communication between patient/family and community clergy as needed. Provides spiritual care to patients/families as needed with priority given to referrals, critical care, and long-term patients. 8. Must complete all MyLearning assignments by required due date.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master's degree in related field required or working towards such degree. Must have four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) for full-time positions and two (2) for part-time positions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master's Degree in a field related to theology. Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education.
Years of Experience: 2 years as a chaplain in a healthcare related field.
Certification: APC or NACC or equivalent.
