Description We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Warren, Michigan. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing remote work two days a week after completing an initial on-site training period. As a key member of the accounting team, you will collaborate closely with the Controller and Senior Accountant to ensure smooth financial operations and compliance.
Responsibilities:
Process weekly payroll for union employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.
Reconcile payroll submissions and review reports for precision and correctness.
Manage onboarding and offboarding payroll tasks, including handling employment verifications and unemployment claims.
Prepare and submit union benefits reports using Excel and other platforms, ensuring timely payments.
Maintain accurate employee personnel records and verify I-9 documentation.
Match purchase orders and packing slips to corresponding invoices, ensuring proper coding and entry into accounting systems.
Process invoice payments through various methods, including credit card transactions, and reconcile statements.
Post journal entries related to payroll and perform account analysis for financial accuracy.
Provide backup support for accounts receivable tasks, such as invoice processing and bank transactions.
Assist in special projects and reporting efforts alongside the Senior Accountant and Controller. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
At least 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a preference for candidates familiar with construction or union environments.
Previous experience in union payroll administration is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Experience using ECi/M1 or similar ERP systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
High level of attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively within a team.
