JOB TITLE: FULL-TIME TYPIST CLERK III
RATE OF PAY: $16.37 per hour entry, progressing to $19.34 per hour after 2 years (TU06)

GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs routine and semi-complex clerical tasks requiring understanding of the division’s clerical activities, and some exercise of judgment. Processes accounts payable, purchase orders and other MUNIS activities. Operates mailroom and processes mail for County operations. Activities are usually under general supervision with close supervision on new assignments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. May serve as receptionist, receiving walk-in visitors and telephone calls. Performs appropriate clerical functions for the division.
2. Processes accounts payable through the financial software, collates invoices, receipts and packing slips for payment. Creates and secures purchase orders, requisitions and other functions in the financial software system. Balances petty cash when necessary.
3. Receives and inputs work orders through the work order software.
4. Main operator of the mail room for county-wide service. Processes mail through the mail machine. Ensures accurate postage. Sorts incoming mail and interoffice mail. Maintains inventory of mail machine supplies. Performs light, routine preventative maintenance on the machine. Ensures maintenance agreements are paid and up-to-date. Calls for service when needed.
5. Runs budget reports for the division. Retrieve line item balance information, receive and retain records on budget adjustments processed through the finance department. Research cost data upon request of supervisor.
6. Completes payroll for all Buildings & Grounds employees including Parks & Rec., seasonal and Pinconning Park.
7. Prepares summary status reports from departmental records, totaling information such as employee time and attendance.
8. Keeps accurate records and completes time sheet of Community Service Workers, forwarding to appropriate person.
9. Orders uniforms and office supplies for division employees.
10. Prepares quarterly reports and year-end reports.
11. Carry out special projects using spreadsheets, research accounting errors, gather budget data and complete research data upon request of supervisor.
12. Places information on the county website for the division.
13. Consistent and punctual attendance is considered an essential function of this position.
14. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate. Six to twelve months of related clerical work experience required. Typing level will be 60 WPM (corrected with no more than five errors). Ability to deal courteously with others. Must be computer literate. Must have strong organizational skills. Experience with work order and financial software preferred. Applicants may be required to take written or other examinations.
Physical: This position involves sitting most of the time and/or being mobile or standing for brief periods of time. Additional requirements include the ability to move objects according to the following weight & frequency: generally up to 20 pounds of force from zero to one third of the time.
